A major goal of the Herring River Restoration Project in Wellfleet is to improve water quality in Wellfleet Harbor, which would benefit the aquaculture operations there. To assess settlement rates of larval-stage oysters onto suitable surfaces prior to the planned removal of a dike at the mouth of the Herring River Estuary in Wellfleet, MA, three unique spat collection methods were deployed at five sites near or within the Herring River estuary. Devices were deployed from mid-June of 2025 to mid-September of 2025.
